I am Dr. Jorge Jimenez, the Mayan Bioengineer.

I am a descendent of Akateko people, an indigenous group of Mayan people in Huehuetenango, Guatemala.

My mission is to achieve equitable health for indigenous people across the globe by Designing for Health Equity, Engaging Communities, and Sharing Knowledge.

Designing for Health Equity: I am PhD level engineer and I challenged the field of bioengineering to be more inclusive of communities marginalized in health.

Engaging Communities: I have leveraged my lived experience to engage communities on engineering and community building.

Sharing Knowledge: My proudest moments in life have been supporting individuals throughout their career paths. I utilize my mentorship to encourage broad participation in STEM.
